STUDENTS NEED AN AVERAGE OF 80% ON THE CLASSROOM PORTION OF DRIVER’S EDUCATION COURSE IN ORDER TO BE CONSIDERED FOR CDTP DRIVING WAIVER OPTION.
STUDENT'S WHO AVERAGE "BELOW" 70% WILL NOT RECEIVE A PASSING GRADE FOR THE CLASS.
3 STRIKES RULE: (ON THE THIRD STRIKE YOU ARE OUT!)

Time Requirements:
- Students must have 25 contact days each and a total of 60 hours of instruction (combined Classroom and Behind-the-Wheel). Absences do not count as contact. To accomplish this time requirement, this class will be broken down as follows:
- 42 Hours of Classroom Instruction (Completion of Moodle Course is Equivalent)
- + 6 Hours of Driving time 12 drives at a half hour each
- + 12 Hours of Observation time
- = 60 HOURS of TOTAL INSTRUCTION
- There are NO excused absences! All absences will require make-up work that is time equivalent.
- A total of 4 1⁄2 hours is the total amount of time that can be missed from the classroom due to tardies or absences. Any more missed time will result in being dismissed from the program. NO EXCEPTIONS!!
- Make up work must be turned in 3 days following your return to class or your driving time may be cancelled.
- Failure to show up for 2 scheduled drives will result in dismissal from Driver’s Education.
- Each “NO SHOW” will carry a penalty of 1 1⁄2 hours of observation.
Notebook:
- A notebook is required for this class. Notebooks need to contain the following:
- 20 pages of notes
- All handouts assigned for work and all Chapter Reviews must be complete when you turn in your notebook.
- Chapter test Scores must average at least an 80% or higher to be considered passing.
- Scores below 80% will require a detailed outline of the failed test.
- All Quizzes/Tests must completed if missed.
- All coursework must be completed in order to pass the course.

- Unexcused absence.
- Unexcused tardy.
- Cell phone violation in the classroom or the car.
- Not showing up for a drive. (DOING THIS TWICE WILL RESULT IN BEING DISMISSED FROM THE COURSE. NO EXCEPTIONS)
- Not turning in chapter outline/notes when it is due.
- Falling asleep in the classroom/car when you should be working/observing.
- Horseplay will not be tolerated...this is an adult activity, which requires mature adult behavior. NO EXCEPTIONS. If you can not handle the classroom, I will send you home!
- A notebook is provided to you with all 12 drives outlined as to what is expected of you.
- You must bring your booklet with you on your drives so that I can write comments in it. (Do not ask for it to be signed the next day after the drive!)
- Your parents should review what it is you are working on and how you are doing. They should also initial the completed drive.
- The driver’s ed car is an extension of the classroom – no food or beverage except bottled water.
- Proper footwear is required: no open toed shoes--For Safety--
- You will have twelve 1 1⁄2 hour drive times – 1⁄2 hour behind the wheel and 1 hour observation time in the back seat.
- No sound devices allowed such as iPods, MP3’s, cell phones, etc... NO TEXT MESSAGING! Phones are to be put in the trunk at the start of each drive.
- No sleeping!! Sleep time does not count as observation time! It is grounds for dismissal for the day and counts as an absence.
- Any disruptions or rude behaviors are grounds for that days’ dismissal which will be counted as a full day absence, even if it is close to dismissal that day.
- Students must remain attentive and respectful to the driver and occupants of the vehicle.
- At least two people are required to drive in any assigned group. We cannot and will not drive with only one driver!
- You are responsible for attending the assigned drive time and it is your responsibility to be on time. I will not wait for you. Be early and be ready!
- If you miss a drive time:
- Notify me ASAP by phone/remind of the miss.
- You must spend 1 1⁄2 hours extra in make-up which could be riding as the 3rd observer in the middle of the back seat of the driver’s ed car. (You will need to come to extra drives and the time will not count towards the required 12 hours observation time.)
- Depending on the reason for the absence – an additional report or assignment may be given.
- If you should neglect your responsibility of attending scheduled drives twice, without informing me personally, and not finding someone to take your drive, it will be assumed that you no longer wish to complete the class and you will be dropped.
- Showing up under the influence of drugs or alcohol is grounds for dismissal from the program.
- Any behavior in the car that jeopardizes the safety of any student or instructor is grounds for dismissal of the program. Unsafe behavior while driving, or observing will not be tolerated. NO EXCEPTIONS.
- The Parent Meeting is Mandatory. Important Information is shared.
- If your parent/guardian does not show for either meeting, you as the student will not be considered for the “waive option” on the final drive!
IN ORDER TO PASS DRIVER’S TRAINING, YOU MUST PASS BOTH THE CLASSROOM AND THE DRIVING EXPERIENCE.
